Mizuko Kuyō

Grounded in potent imagery, and visceral emotion, Butoh is a powerful form for story telling. As a contemporary Japanese dance form, Butoh arose following the horrific aftermath of World War II, pioneered by Tatsumi Hijikata and Kazoo Ohno. Pictured here are stills from Mizuko Kuyō, a solo I choreographed and performed under the tutelage of Butoh master Katsura Kan.
